Every son has a father, but not every one of us is lucky enough to have a daddy. Luke is from the Greek “bringer of light”, and he has already brought light to your face and eyes. Capture that unadulterated awe and love, remove the rind of novelty, and spread it over the years to come. The years will pass quickly, and you will grow older and wiser along with Luke. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens to be precise) said that “when [he] was a boy of fourteen, [his] father was so ignorant [he] could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when [he] got to be twenty-one, [he] was astonished at how much [his father] had learned in seven years.” The moral is, your time as a hero may wax and wane, but a friendship with one’s father is unparalleled.
